Qilou Old Town serves as reminder of China's connection with Southeast Asia
China's southern island province of Hainan is home to a special kind of architecture, fusing various design elements that present a historical link between China and Southeast Asia. These arcade buildings, or qilou in Chinese, serve as reminders of how cultural exchanges were conducted between China and the outside world from the 1920s.
